I wanted to like Pressflip. I did. It was a sound idea written on a sound platform by smart programmers. It should have been awesome. it should have been a "killer app." However, after trying Pressflip several times, I always end up back at Google and Google Blog Search.
"Where is Meat of Cow for my mouth?"
This is the problem with Pressflip, it doesn't turn up anything interesting. It turns up articles about iPhone, just like everything else. It turns up articles about John McCain, which my LiveJournal friends list does in spades. Pressflip, though, doesn't turn up anything I want to see: porn. Not just porn, pirated comic scans, too.
Okay, okay. Pirated comic scans is where Pressflip really fails me, because I already have all the Black Canary fetish sites book marked at delicious.
See, thanks to really useful web services like Rapidshare, Sendspace, and the like, you can find almost any comic book for free by looking for "[comic title] [issue number] cbr" at Google. You have to refine the search sometimes, but more often than not, two weeks after hitting the comic shops, Roogleshare has comics for free. The only problem here is, to find the comics, I have to go to Google, type in my search, and weed through a lot of 100MB bittorrent seeds that have comics I don't want to read.
"If only someone would create a smart filter to weed out those bad links for me."
Pressflip was supposed to be the answer to this problem. Click the links that match what you want, flip away the ones you don't, and Pressflip gets smarter. The promise was Pressflip would find links you wanted before you knew you wanted them. Thus far, whenever I search for anything that's not either iPhone or already bombarding mt blog feed, the only results I get are Google Ads.
Way to fail, guys. And as for porn, forget about it.

porn on PF
I had always wanted to do a porn classifier - I think there is a good market for it. Problem is, image and video classification are really hard, especially considering the nuances of porn.
Take balloon porn for example. Some people are into balloons, but there is a big distinction between popping and non-popping balloon porn. If you show popping balloon porn to someone who is into non-popping...disaster. Writing a classifier to do that based on images alone is damn near impossible.
I don't think the technology is there yet, and to create it would likely take years.
Isn't that was tags are for?

What a cop out!
What a cop out! You refer to all this fancy hi-tech porn-enabling featurelist as an excuse for not doing something BASIC. In "beta 1", we don't need you to classify between popping and non-popping... categorising between "balloon porn" and "non-porn breast examination films" would be a good start. But now your wife and kid will ban you from porn so :(
Also why can't we embed images in our blogs?

beef of cow
fail. your image says 'meat of cow', not the nonsensical 'beef of cow' you appear to think it does.
